The Eight Playable Gladiator Beasts Overview
Official Steam announcements and the public 60-achievement list confirm eight playable gladiator Beasts in Chained Beasts: Lion, Eagle, Bear, Panther, Ibex, Rhino, Monkey, and Wolf. Rhino and Ibex joined the playable roster in the May 29, 2026 updated demo announcement after Rhino first appeared as Beastmaster Barca's mount in the earlier November 2025 demo.
Nine of the game's 60 Steam achievements map directly to the playable roster. Bestiary requires unlocking all Beasts, while eight individual completion achievements — Free as a Lion, Free as an Eagle, Free as a Bear, Free as a Panther, Free as an Ibex, Free as a Rhino, Free as a Monkey, and Free as a Wolf — require winning a full run as each respective Beast. Developer announcements also state that playing matches grants XP to level up Beasts and unlock variants with different stats, skills, and skins.
