How Merchant Items and Night-Camp Shopping Work

Featherweight Games states that Chained Beasts includes more than 40 items sold by the Merchant between arena battles. Official Steam store screenshots (Night IV) and Gameplay Trailer frames show Merchant cards organized under four colour-coded type tags — Passive (blue), Arena (red-pink), Instant (green), and Equipment (purple) — each listing an on-screen effect and gold coin price (as shown in the official Steam store screenshots; the release build may differ).

In the official Night IV store screenshot, the Merchant offers Pamphlets (60 gold), Shop Discount (150 gold), Wooden Club (25 gold), Deadly Obsidian Sword (50 gold), Medicine (75 gold), Swift Sandals (40 gold), Quilted Armor (40 gold), and Shield Spikes (45 gold), while the Gameplay Trailer Merchant frame shows A Gift for the Quartermaster (65 gold), Poisoned Apples (90 gold), Explosive Bow (50 gold), Obsidian Hammer (60 gold), Medicine (75 gold), Sword Guard (45 gold), Shield Spikes (45 gold), and Leather Strop (60 gold) (as shown in the official Steam store screenshots; the release build may differ). The sidebar note for Arena items explains that those weapons are added to each arena for any gladiator to pick up after battle starts.

Three Steam achievements tie directly into the item and coin economy: Collector (purchase every type of item from the Merchant), Moneybags (buy out the Merchant's entire store at once), and Majority Stakeholder (individually earn at least 400 coins in a run), while Weapon Master tracks getting a kill with every type of item.
