Which bosses are confirmed in official sources?
Featherweight confirms a boss ladder across three acts plus additional achievement-only names. The table below sticks to store, news, PR, and achievement text—not community nicknames.
| Boss | Act | What official sources say | Related achievement | Our page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beastmaster Barca | Act 1 — Carthage | Rides a rhino into the arena; demo-era store text described the first boss appearing after five fights (full 1.0 pacing not re-documented here) | Stampede — Cause Beastmaster Barca to be trampled to death by the Rhino | Beastmaster Barca |
| Goliath | Act 2 — Germania | Steam announcement Open Beta Now Live: Head North to Germania (2026-07-16): built to test agility with an unpredictable jump and ground slam attack in Germania | Deep Impact — Cause an opponent to die to the Goliath’s leap attack | Goliath |
| Flail Master | Act not disclosed | Achievement only: send him flying with his own flail | Turning the Tide | (this overview) |
| Praefectus (+ Praetorian Guard) | Act 3 — Rome | Described as the strongest boss so far; fight includes catapults and a siege | Clearing the Skies, Don’t Look Up | Praefectus & the Siege |
| The Senate | Act 3 endpoint | Narrative finale target in Rome | Rebel Leader — Reach The Senate | (this overview) |
Generic rule: Who’s The Boss — kill a boss within 10 seconds of first damaging it. That timer is the only numeric boss constraint in achievement text.
New players should read the Chained Beasts beginner guide for chain basics before diving into act bosses.
What does official art show for named fights?
Screenshots and trailer frames do show some boss UI:

Praefectus, catapults, and mangonels do not appear in the official Gameplay Trailer frames we reviewed (see Praefectus page). Do not substitute other Rome art for siege mechanics.
Who is the Flail Master?
Achievement Turning the Tide: Send the Flail Master flying with his own flail.
Official announcements do not say which act or arena hosts this enemy. Gameplay Trailer footage includes a large armored figure swinging a flail against chained players in snow, but the frame has no boss nameplate—so we describe the clip as an unnamed flail enemy, not as confirmed Flail Master footage.

For chain-heavy teamwork context, see co-op and multiplayer. Achievement hunters should cross-check wording on the achievements guide.
What is The Senate?
Achievement Rebel Leader: Reach The Senate. Official structure lists Rome as the third act with this milestone on the boss table above. Our reading of the wording (not confirmed in-game): reaching The Senate marks completing the Rome act arc described in launch announcements—not a separate hidden act name in public UI text.
Official cinematic art shows a robed figure on a golden throne, legionaries on steps, and the letters S P Q R on a pediment. The frame does not display the words The Senate, so we caption it as a story cutscene, not a screenshot of the Senate boss encounter.

Act progression achievements Can’t Stand The Heat (survive Carthage) and Out of the Cold (survive Germania) bracket the road toward Rome. Difficulty tier Jupiter and King of the Gods are documented on difficulty levels.
How do Beastmaster Barca and the rhino relate?
Store achievements tie Barca to his mount: Stampede requires Barca to die by rhino trample. A separate cinematic render shows an armored rhino bursting through a gate with purple shields; that frame lacks Barca’s nameplate, so it is not labeled as the Barca arena in our captions—see the Barca boss page for details. Note also that Rhino became one of the eight playable gladiator Beasts in the May 29, 2026 updated demo announcement (covered on all beasts), distinct from Barca’s boss mount.

How do boss encounters fit the three-act campaign loop?
Featherweight’s launch announcements describe a campaign structure of three acts, nine battles, and a final encounter, taking squads from Carthage (Act 1) through Germania (Act 2) to Rome (Act 3). Across that climb, boss fights intersect with four run-wide progression systems:
- Between-battle camp upgrades: Before reaching an act boss, players visit the Trainer (up to level 20 for Overtrained, or level 0 for Untrained) and the Merchant (40+ items tagged Passive, Arena, Instant, and Equipment, as shown in the official Steam store screenshots; the release build may differ). Full breakdowns live on afflictions and Trainer and merchant items.
- Afflictions and Surgeon trade-offs: Every combat day introduces skull-rated afflictions, while the Surgeon between acts can treat injuries or offer augmentations at a price. Carrying at least 20 skulls of afflictions to the end of a winning run unlocks Medical Marvel.
- Crowd Favorite rewards: Post-battle scoring across Variety, Tempo, and Carnage awards gold and crowns a Crowd Favorite (see crowd favorite and scoring).
- Post-launch boss additions: Featherweight’s roadmap for Update 1.1 (scheduled for December 2026) promises a brand new arena and boss, a new weapon, and matching enemies.
