FAQ

Which act is Goliath in?
Germania—the frozen wasteland Act 2—matching Out of the Cold (survive Germania) and developer boss summaries in launch materials.

What page covers four-player chain fights?
See co-op and multiplayer for party sizes and chain photos, including the four-player Goliath trailer frame linked below.

Who is Goliath in Chained Beasts?

Goliath is the Act 2 (Germania) boss in the frozen wasteland act between Carthage and Rome. In the Steam announcement Open Beta Now Live: Head North to Germania (2026-07-16), Featherweight writes that Goliath is built to test your agility with an unpredictable jump and ground slam attack—developer wording, not a move list from in-game UI.

Act 1’s rhino rider is Beastmaster Barca; Act 3 siege content is Praefectus & the Siege. Overview tables live on all bosses.

What do official screenshots and trailer frames show?

Two first-party assets confirm arena mood, hazard density, and UI text for the Act 2 encounter:

Asset Visible facts
Official Steam store snow-arena screenshot Snow field, GOLIATH boss bar, P1/P2 chains, burning stumps
Official Gameplay Trailer snow fight frame P1–P4 labels, same boss bar, traps and fire in snow

Neither asset publishes HP numbers, weakness icons, or phase counters—only the uppercase GOLIATH name plate centered at the top of the screen between purple skull emblems (as shown in the official Steam store screenshots; the release build may differ). In the upper-left corner of the combat HUD, a segmented progress bar with diamond nodes ending in a boss or beast-head emblem tracks act progression, while the bottom of the snow-arena frame displays a green crowd bar with small icon bubbles popping above the spectators.

Because four-player chains appear here (with players marked P1–P4 in distinct HUD colors), spacing lessons overlap with co-op and multiplayer—especially avoiding pillar and stump wraps while dodging large telegraphs. In the Steam store description, Featherweight emphasizes that uncoordinated movement leaves chained teammates tangled around arena obstacles right when an enemy wind-up lands.

How do arena hazards and status effects interact in Germania?

While Featherweight has not published a move-by-move script for Goliath, the official snow-arena screenshot and the wider Steam achievement list confirm several environmental and combat mechanics that remain active across Germania rounds:

  • Fire and burning obstacles: The snow arena contains multiple burning wooden stumps and braziers (as shown in the official Steam store screenshots; the release build may differ). Across the wider game, fire connects to achievements such as Fired Up (Spend at least 10% of a round on fire) and Fire Pro (Cause a wrestler to set themselves on fire while leaping at you).
  • Obstacle destruction and thrown objects: Arena fights support smashing or clearing stage props, tracked by Destruction of Property (Destroy at least 10 obstacles in a round), as well as throwing weapons (Gold Medal for a 20-metre throw) or using environmental hazards such as spike walls (Stick Around) and spike plates (Entrapment).
  • Crowd participation: The spectator bar along the bottom of the screen is an active gameplay factor. Store copy notes that winning the crowd’s favor helps you in battle, while the achievement Pay Attention (Die to an object thrown by the crowd) confirms that objects tossed from the stands can also deal lethal damage if players ignore landing zones.

What does the Deep Impact achievement reveal?

Official text:

Achievement Requirement (official wording)
Deep Impact Cause an opponent to die to the Goliath’s leap attack

Our reading of the wording (not confirmed in-game): Goliath’s leap attack can kill an opponent, as the achievement says—whether that means another gladiator, an enemy add, or both is not disclosed. Featherweight does not document setup steps, friendly-fire damage numbers, or invulnerability frames in the sources we read.

Hunters pairing boss goals with kill-count trophies should read Roman numeral kill achievements (X / L / C / D / M) on the achievements guide. Generic speed kill Who’s The Boss (Kill a Boss within 10 seconds of first damaging them) also applies to any boss once you deal first damage, making it a separate challenge from baiting Deep Impact.

What is not disclosed?

We intentionally omit:

  • HP, stagger, or armor values
  • Phase list, move cooldowns, or enrage timer
  • Exact arena index within Germania’s nine-battle three-act campaign structure
  • Whether specific playable Beasts from the all beasts roster (Lion, Eagle, Bear, Panther, Ibex, Rhino, Monkey, or Wolf) have unique dialogue or matchup interactions against Goliath
  • Interaction with undisclosed systems (for example the red-black fog wall seen advancing from the left side of a separate snow screenshot—name and rules not disclosed, and not tied to Goliath)

If future Steam posts add numbers, we will cite them with dates—not extrapolate from demo or beta footage.

How does Goliath connect to the rest of a run?

Clearing Germania matches the progression achievement Out of the Cold (Survive Germania), which sits between Can’t Stand The Heat (Survive Carthage) and the Act 3 Rome milestone Rebel Leader (Reach The Senate). Players arrive in Germania carrying whatever afflictions, Trainer levels, skills, and Merchant items they accumulated on earlier nights—systems covered in afflictions and Trainer, crowd favorite and scoring, and merchant items. Between acts, store copy also notes that the Surgeon can treat afflictions or offer augmentations at a cost. Difficulty tier Jupiter and King of the Gods sit outside this boss page; see difficulty levels.

Return to the beginner guide if you need chain basics or a hub link list before tackling Rome.
