FAQ

What are the minimum specs for Chained Beasts on Windows?
Steam minimums call for Windows 10 64-bit, Core i5-5257U or Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 or RX 460, plus one gamepad for same-screen co-op.
Can Chained Beasts run on Mac?
Yes on Steam. Minimums list macOS 11 with Apple M1 or Intel i7-8850H, 8 GB RAM, and Apple M1 or Radeon Pro 560X graphics, with the same gamepad note for couch co-op.
Is Chained Beasts Steam Deck Verified or Playable?
Not as of 2026-10-16. The Steam store had not assigned a Steam Deck compatibility rating yet. We do not claim Verified or Playable until Valve updates the badge.
How much storage does Chained Beasts need?
The Steam store system requirements block we checked on 2026-10-16 did not list storage space. Check the live store page install size before downloading.
Do you need a controller for co-op on PC?
Minimum requirements state at least one gamepad is required for same-screen co-op. Steam also marks Gamepad Recommended and lists DualShock and DualSense support.

What are the official minimum requirements?

Featherweight publishes PC specs through the Steam store page. The tables below mirror the Minimum requirements shown there (observed 2026-10-16).

Windows minimum

Component Steam minimum requirement
OS Windows 10 (64-bit processor and operating system required)
CPU Intel Core i5-5257U, AMD Ryzen 3 1200, or equivalent
Memory 8 GB RAM
Graphics GeForce GTX 1050, AMD RX 460, or equivalent
Additional notes At least 1 gamepad is required for same-screen co-op

macOS minimum

Component Steam minimum requirement
OS macOS 11
CPU Apple M1 / Intel i7-8850H
Memory 8 GB RAM
Graphics Apple M1 / Radeon Pro 560X
Additional notes At least 1 gamepad is required for same-screen co-op

Steam’s recommended blocks only repeat “Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system” on Windows (and an empty list on macOS). Featherweight does not list recommended CPU or GPU models there—do not trust third-party “recommended spec” tables unless they cite this store data.

Storage space, DirectX version, and dedicated VRAM fields were not listed in the Steam store requirements we checked on 2026-10-16. Use the live Steam install size readout on your account region instead.

Can my PC run Chained Beasts?

This is a fact-check workflow, not a guarantee:

  1. Open Steam → Chained Beasts → scroll to System Requirements.
  2. On Windows, compare your CPU and GPU model names to the minimum table above (or Steam’s live page if specs change).
  3. Confirm you have 8 GB RAM or more and a 64-bit Windows 10 install.
  4. If you plan couch co-op on one PC, budget for at least one controller; keyboard-only same-screen setups conflict with the published minimum note.
  5. For online co-op instead of split-screen, network quality matters, but Steam does not publish bandwidth minimums—not disclosed.

Third-party benchmark sites may extrapolate performance; we do not copy their FPS claims because Featherweight has not published frame-rate targets.

What languages and controller features are listed on Steam?

On the Steam store listing (observed 2026-10-16), Featherweight publishes language support, controller profiles, and store feature flags alongside the minimum hardware tables:

  • 12 supported languages: Interface and subtitles are listed for English, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), Traditional Chinese, Russian, and Turkish, with full audio marked for English only.
  • Controller support: The store page marks Full Controller Support and Gamepad Recommended, and explicitly lists PlayStation DualShock and DualSense controller support (both USB and Bluetooth) alongside standard Xbox/XInput gamepads. As noted in the Windows and macOS minimum tables, at least 1 gamepad is required for same-screen co-op.
  • Steam store feature flags: The listing includes Single-player, Online Co-op, Shared/Split Screen Co-op, Cross-Platform Multiplayer, Steam Achievements (60 total at launch—see the achievements guide), Steam Cloud, Remote Play Together, and Family Sharing.
  • Remote Play Together vs native Online Co-op: When using Steam Remote Play Together, the host PC renders and streams the session to up to three invited friends, whereas native Online Co-op runs the game locally on each participant’s machine.

Controller expectations and co-op modes are expanded in the co-op and multiplayer guide.

What about Steam Deck and handhelds?

As of 2026-10-16, the Steam store had not assigned a Steam Deck compatibility rating—there was no Verified or Playable badge yet.

We do not call the game Steam Deck Verified or Playable until Steam shows an official badge. Minimum specs (GTX 1050 class) are often used as a rough handheld reference, but Deck performance depends on Proton and post-launch patches—not confirmed in Featherweight posts we read.

We will update this section when Steam assigns a Deck category or Featherweight posts handheld guidance.

Does platform choice affect requirements?

Console versions (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch) follow platform-holder specs, not the Steam tables above. See the release date and platforms guide for the launch matrix and Game Pass notes.

New players should still read the beginner guide for gameplay structure before worrying about hardware edge cases.

Will future updates change specs?

Post-launch Update 1.1 (planned December 2026) adds arenas, weapons, and enemies per Featherweight’s roadmap. Patch sizes or spec bumps are not disclosed yet—track the roadmap and 1.1 page for schedule facts only.

  • Verified: 2026-10-16. We omitted storage, DirectX, and recommended GPU tiers because they were absent from the store requirements block. We did not claim Deck Verified/Playable because no badge was listed.
